DR. ANDREAÂ SILVA
Addiction Medicine Specialist & Family Doctor
Hello there. Please enjoy exploring around, where you can learn more about my background, experience, skills, hobbies and current projects.
ABOUT ME
Call me Andrea, Andie or Dre.
What gets me up in the morning? Well, other than the aroma of a freshly brewed medium-roast coffee, I live to help people.

As a California kid born and raised in Fresno, I spent my childhood exploring the fields around our country home with my identical twin sister (who is also a Dr. Silva!) and our younger brother (who is wise beyond his years). We had our share of challenging times, as many families do, but I was privileged with good health, friends, and education.
After my high school AP calculus teacher suggested I would make a good doctor since I was a "people person", I went on to study Neurobiology at the University of California, Davis as a premedical student.

Nearly a decade would go by before I would get my opportunity to attend medical school, as I dedicated myself to clinical and translational research at UC Davis and UC San Francisco.

For sake of brevity, and to keep at least a few good stories to tell on a night out, I graduated from medical school, went on to complete family medicine residency, and moved to Boston for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to study addiction medicine.

Coming full circle, I am excited to be back in the Central Valley of California practicing as an addiction specialist and family doctor. I aim to mitigate health disparities in marginalized communities, such as gender-diverse, LGBTQ+, those experiencing homelessness and people with substance use disorder.

I hope to meet soon.
INTERESTS AND HOBBIES
As you would imagine a soft-butch lesbian from California to spend their time. Find me tending to a vegetable garden in the summer and knitting a dog scarf in the winter. Throw in a wild night of sautéing exotic mushrooms for dinner, while sipping a hard Kombucha. Oh life, you can be great sometimes.
COOKING & BAKING
I credit my culinary skills to my Portuguese grandmother who shared her love of the kitchen with me.
PHOTOGRAPHY
I aim to capture photos that make a heart race, even if for just a moment.

GOLF
My grandpa (my dad's dad)Â is a professional golfer. He taught me to play when I was a kid, and yes, I played on my high school golf team.
KNITTING
My newest hobby. Was surprised to learn I am not the youngest person at the yarn store. #millenial
HIKING NATIONAL PARKS
Off to a pretty great start already, I'm trying to see them all.
GARDENING
I will admit, my gardening has taken a hit while living in Boston. I try to at least have something green growing.
FUR BABIES
Life wouldn't be the same without these crazy little pups.
TRAVELING
There is nothing like the thrill of traveling, filled with that excitement of experiencing a new culture.
